I recently purchased an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III with the piezo pickup and the mono and stereo inputs. What a great guitar! The light weight Les Paul that I've been looking for!

But I have an issue or think I do. When I'm plugged into the mono jack the A/B it is supposed to be active meaning the piezo and humbuckers are active. It seems just the piezo is and it seems powerful enough or at least normal. But when I tap the humbucker pickups there is no feedback. I plugged into the stereo input and into my amp and just plugged a cord into the mono to simulate two inputs. The three pickup settings all work and the humbuckers now work, but very little is added from the piezo when in the A/B position. Then when on the piezo setting the output is extremely weak almost non existent. Is that because an acoustic amp would be necessary?? I put a fresh battery in but it made no difference. I'd really just like to play in the mono mode with the blend of humbuckers and piezo but of course hope to eventually use all the settings. I'm kind of at a loss as to whether or not it's something I'm doing. Any advice from fellow III owners or those in the know would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure I follow how you are connected. If you go from the mono output of the guitar into an amp, then you can use the A/B switching to use A or B or A+B. If you use both outputs, the magnetic pickups go to a standard guitar amp and the acoustic pickup goes to an acoustic amp or PA. Trying to simulate the two outputs definitely does not work.

If you are not getting sound from the humbuckers in the mono mode with the A+B on, or just the blue light on, then something is wrong. Just double check all your connections before jumping to any conclusions.

Hi,

welcome here @ €piTalk

Make sure none of the (regular) volume knobs is turned completely down,
each of them works like a master-volume.

and no, you don't need a special acoustic-amp when you go with the mono-out
I had an Ultra-II and liked the mixed sound through my SS and tube amp

an acoustic-amp only makes sense (to me) when you go with the stereo out

Hi. Okay. The manual or single sheet of instructions is vague to say the least lol said the A/B is active when plugged into one amp via the mono. I assumed that meant that was the only selection that was active. Are you saying all 3 are selectable and active??
A (nanomag/piezo)
B (magnetic/humbuckers)
And A/B BOTH

If that's the case and I should be able to get sound from all three this guitar has bigger problems than I thought. Because all I am getting on any settings when plugged into the mono jack and my amp is the piezo pickup when on A/B. Nothing on A, Nothing on B. No humbuckers on A/B. I put it in the repair dept at the guitar shop today as it has a 90 day warranty. But thinking I'm just going to call them tomorrow and ask for a refund.

Thanks!
